Create SDL Trados 2014 AutoSuggest dictionary

Jan 8, 2015   //   by ADMIN   //   Trados  //  1 Comment

Create SDL Trados 2014 AutoSuggest dictionary

AutoSuggest editing is an optional feature which can be used to speed up manual translation. AutoSuggest monitors what you are typing and, after you have typed the first few characters of a word, presents you with a list of suggested words and phrases in the target language that start with the same characters. If one of the words or phrases matches what you were about to type, you can automatically complete the word or phrase by selecting it from the list. As you continue to type the list of suggested words is continuously updated.

To create a new Trados 2014 AutoSuggest take the following steps:

1) Click File > Options > Language pairs > choose your pairs like (English -> Arabic) > AutoSuggest dictionaries.

Translate a single file in SDL Trados Studio 2014

Jan 7, 2015   //   by ADMIN   //   Trados  //  No Comments

Translate a single file in SDL Trados Studio 2014 directly.

When you only have one file to translate, you can open the file directly in SDL Trados Studio 2014, the system will create a project for your file automatically. But even though a project is created, there are differences between translating a single file and setting up a project with the project wizard. The project of a single file is limited to this file, new files cannot be added to the project.

Then you choose which translation memory and termbase you want to use.

For translation, your file will be saved into the internal SDL XLIFF format. This file will contain source and target language sentences while you translate.

After translation you save your translated file back to the original file format.

OPENING A FILE

To open the sample document for translation, take the following steps:

Selecting the Document and the Language Pair

1. Switch to the Welcome screen, and then click the Translate Single Document button.

SDL Trados 2014 Keyboard shortcuts

Jan 4, 2015   //   by ADMIN   //   Trados  //  1 Comment
SDL Trados 2014 Keyboard shortcuts

SDL Trados 2014 Keyboard shortcuts are ergonomic and should be used as much as possible. And Trados lets you can customize the shortcuts.
There are shortcuts for the following categories:

  • All Views (shortcuts common to all views)
  • Category Window
  • Editor
  • Editor: QuickInsert Toolbar (which is really the QuickInsert group; for formatting and some special characters)
  • Editor: TM Window (for handling search results and TM matches)
  • Files (file handling; default state: no shortcuts)
  • Projects
  • Reports
  • Translation Memories

The shortcuts depend on which user profile you are using. There are slight differences between the default and the SDL Trados profile shortcuts; considerably more between the default and the SDLX shortcuts.

View shortcuts: There are two ways to do this:

1) In the Welcome view, go to Home > Show shortcuts (or Alt/F10, H, H). A windows opens where you can scroll through all shortcuts, and for each one the corresponding icon is shown. You can also print this list.

2) Open File > Options (or Alt/F10, F, T) and expand Keyboard Shortcuts.

Trados 2011 shourtcut

Change, delete or create a shortcut: Open the shortcut window (File > Options (or Alt/F10, F, T) > Keyboard Shortcuts and select the de-sired category. Locate the action in question and change/delete the ex-isting key combination or add a new one. If you try to assign a shortcut which is already in use, the row will be highlighted in red and you will have to try another one. (It is alright to use the same shortcut in different categories except for conflicts with All Views or conflicts between the three Editor tables.)

Reset shortcuts: Click the Reset to Defaults button. This applies only to the category that is open.

Show all Trados 2014 shortcuts and you can download it (Trados 2014 shortcut):
